‘The Batman’ Director Reveals Batmobile First Look

LOS ANGELES (Variety.com) – “The Batman” director Matt Reeves revealed the official first look at the Batmobile on Twitter on Wednesday, further establishing the filmmaker’s gritty, grounded, almost DIY take on the iconic comic book hero.
In three shadowy images, the Caped Crusader’s trusty vehicle appears to be an enhanced version of a standard muscle car, with an exposed rear engine and a few cosmetic flourishes to the exterior. The look is a rather radical departure from the Batmobiles in Batman’s previous cinematic outings, all of which were fully custom vehicles created from the ground up.
The images are also noteworthy in that they’re the first official showcase of the full Batsuit worn by Robert Pattinson in the film.
The design of the Batmobile is in keeping with the first look of the Batcycle fans got in February. In those shots, from a series of unauthorized photos from a location shoot for “” in Scotland, a stuntperson in the Batsuit drove a rather straightforward motorcycle with a few modest Batman-y design cues on its exterior.
By posting the Batmobile to Twitter himself, Reeves is also reasserting control over the rabidly anticipated first looks at his approach to “The Batman,” which he started earlier in February when he posted a video of Pattinson wearing the Batsuit to Vimeo.
Reeves is currently shooting “The Batman” with Pattison, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as the Riddler, Colin Farrell as the Penguin, Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon and Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth.
The film is set to open on June 25, 2021.
