Will The New Royal Baby Be At Harry & Meghan’s Wedding?
The new prince was born at 1101 hours and weighed 8 lbs and 7 oz. This is above average for most babies. In keeping with royal tradition, the sex of the baby was not announced until he was born. Since the 50s, it has been a tradition to keep the sex secret until birth.
Kate gave birth in the early hours of April 23rd and was seen leaving the hospital and greeting photographers just seven hours later. The pair looked happy and content and reports stated that William was present for the birth. The baby was born in the Lindo Wing of St. Mary’s hospital, a tradition that gained in popularity over home births that were previously the norm.
First images of the young prince surfaced on the day that he was born, and he is just as adorable as his older brother and sister. The baby came after what was reported to be a routine pregnancy with fewer complications than the last two pregnancies. Though a fine photo and the word of the royals and doctor is enough these days, royal births used to require the presence of a witness to prove the birth.
The Town Crier announced the birth. Prince Louis will be fifth in line for the throne after his grandfather, Prince Charles, his father Prince William and his brother Prince George and sister Princess Charlotte. In recent years, Queen Elizabeth has opened up the throne to female descendants making it possible for Charlotte to have her chance at the crown.
There was much speculation about what the new royal baby would be named, and close to a week after his birth, his name was finally announced. The baby was named Prince Louis Arthur Charles. Louis was the name of William’s mentor, Arthur was a favorite in early estimates of the name, and Charles is William’s father.
