Princess Diana’s Timeless Looks: Whose Wearing Her Bling Now?

It’s heartwarming that the late Princess Diana’s jewelry and fashion style is being continued on through her beloved sons.

They have both married beautiful princesses who the boys have given their mummy’s jewelry to as sentimental gifts. In a letter written by Diana, she actually states she would like to have her son’s wives wear and enjoy her treasure trove.

Today, The Queen will reopen the Sir Joseph Hotung Gallery of China and South Asia at the British Museum. The gallery was first opened by Her Majesty in 1992 The Queen has visited the British Museum many times during her reign: her 1957 visit marked the 200th anniversary of the presentation of the Old Royal Library to the new British Museum by King George II in 1757; in 1999 she toured the ‘Gilded Dragons’ exhibition with President Jiang Zemin of China during his State Visit; at the opening of Great Court in 2000, The Queen said, ‘In the life of the nation, the British Museum is a remarkable phenomenon. It is … an enduring source of learning, inspiration and pleasure for millions of people who visit every year.’

William’s wife Kate and Harry’s new bride, Meghan are now the royal jewelry wearers and wow do they both wear expensive rocks well. They are both quite chuffed about it, too.

1.  Meghan Markles’s Something Big and Blue:

Harry loves his new bride so much he didn’t just give her one wedding ring on their big day, he gave her two!

One was a classic Welsh gold band he slipped on her finger during the ceremony. The other was a breathtaking aquamarine cocktail ring with serious sentimental value. It belonged to Princess Di who wore it to many special occasions along with a diamond eternity band. Quite Dosh!

2. A Set of Sapphires For The Duchess:

Princess Diana had a liking for deep blue sapphires. Apparently so does her first born’s wife, Kate Middleton, better known as the Duchess of York.

She not only sports Di’s extravagant sapphire and diamond wedding ring she also wears matching earrings that once adorned Prince Willie’s mother’s ears.

Kate had them redesigned as drop earring to flatter her gorgeous features. That probably cost a pretty British penny!

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge leave St Mary’s Hospital in London with their new arrival, a baby boy. Their Royal Highnesses have thanked all staff at the hospital for the care and treatment they have received, and thanked members of the public for their warm wishes.

3.  A Treasure Trove Of Tiaras:

The Queen,  Her Highness Elizabeth that is, loaned Lady Di a very special tiara called The Queen Mary Lover’s Knot to wear on her wedding day to Prince Charles.

Bride Celia McCorquodale in the famous Spencer tiara. What do you think?! This is the first time the tiara has been seen publicly since Diana’s death.

She didn’t wear it that day to tie the knot but wore it many times later in her beloved royal career. Now, lucky Duchess of York, Kate, is showing up at different regal affairs wearing the dazzling darling and carrying on the royal tiara tradition.

This is what you call a Royal Lovers Triangle! How about Camilla re-designing Princess Di’s gorgeous choker into a broach and wearing it as big as you please!

Camillas’s jewels: The Prince of Wales Feathers Pendant. “A wedding gift to Princess Alexandra of Denmark from the ‘Ladies of Bristol’ when she married the Prince of Wales (later King Edward VII) in 1863. It is composed of an oval of 18 brilliant-cut diamonds accented with tiny emeralds, encircling the Prince of Wales ostrich feathers and a scroll inscribed with the Prince of Wales’ motto “Ich Dien” (German for “I serve“). Three Princesses and a Necklace:  If only pearls could talk this statement piece would make a statement!

Duchess Kate is dazzling in her colorful floral number just as her late mum in law, Princess Diana was in her pearl-encrusted suit. Check out what is dangling from both their ears…drop diamond earrings that look superb on them both. What, Kate, not tiara today?

8.  Sapphires, Smiles and Sensational Jewelry:

This eerily similar photo of both “your highnesses” saying hello to their adoring commoners. And look at their earrings.

Could they be one (or two) in the same? They even have dimples to match….cheeky!

Royal watchers say that Princess Di’s daughter in law has some of the same eye for style that she was famous for. From the hat to the red poppy pin (honoring veterans)  all the way down to her shoes, this look is almost the spittin‘ image of one another.

The earrings may not be the same, but it’s the look that gives the message here….does Di live on through Kate?
