‘Nailed It!’ Season 3 Sets May Premiere Date at Netflix

By Rachel Yang

LOS ANGELES (Variety.com) – Netflix has renewed the reality baking competition series “Nailed It!” for a third season, set to premiere globally on May 17.

The show is a twist on traditional cooking shows, by bringing together home bakers who make up for their lack of skill with their enthusiastic attitudes. Comedian Nicole Byer and renowned pastry chef Jacques Torres host and judge the chaos in the kitchen, from half-baked doll cakes to delightfully creepy edible clowns. The baker who makes the best (or least terrible) recreation can take home a $10,000 prize.

On the upcoming six-episode season, viewers will be treated to challenges like the Marvel showdown, where bakers must make Marvel-themed cupcakes and a daunting “Black Panther” cake. Actress and gaming icon Felicia Day joins the judge’s panel. Other episodes include “Cake-O-Phobia,” featuring bug cookies and a clown cake; a cake replica of Michelangelo’s “David”; Neanderthal cupcakes and a T. rex cake featuring YouTube baker Rosanna Pansino; a layered bust of Napoleon Bonaparte; and an edible headdress judged by pastry chef and humorist Charles Phoenix on the episode “Ready to Wear, Ready to Eat.”

“Nailed It!” is produced by the Magical Elves, with Dan Cutforth, Jane Lipsitz, Casey Kriley, Patrick J. Doody, Daniel Calin and Gayle Gawlowski serving as executive producers. Jo Sharon serves as co-executive producer.
