Jonah Hill: Story of an unexpected style icon with unpredictable looks
The actor who got his first big-screen start in Judd Apatow’s 40-Year Old Virgin has gone through a bit of a transformation in his career. Hill has been into constant transformation in the last few years, and his transformation is inspiring, and the star’s fans are feeling motivated by his improved physique. It is more like an evolution that you will have to read and enjoy for sure.
His Entry into Hollywood
Produced by Judd Apatow and written by Seth Rogen, film Superbad lets Jonah Hill come in the public eye.
One of those things that people liked in the movie was a chubby, curly-haired, lovable underdog. Hill’s character was pure of heart and round of body.
Expansion of the Hill
By this time he was certified as Hollywood’s comedy fat man. The exciting thing is he knew that what is making him fat and fluffy. For a while, Hill was stuck in the same role: The funny, fat friend.
It seemed like in any interview Hill did over the years, his weight was a frequent topic, often in a condescending way. Google “Jonah Hill weight” and you’ll get 296,000 results.
Little Bigger
In an interview later in the years, he said that “It’s so annoying because when I don’t drink beer, I get skinny. Then when I drink beer, I get a little bigger.”
“I spent most of my young adult life listening to people say I was fat, gross, and unattractive,” Hill told Ellen
Trying to hide from the world
“I think everybody has a version of themselves ― I call it a snapshot ― at some point in life… [you’re] trying to hide from the world. Even if you get success or grow up or become good-looking or whatever … you kind of carry some part of that with you,” he told DeGeneres.
“For me, it’s being like this 14-year-old kid, being overweight, wanting to fit in with these skaters and hip-hop kids, and just feeling lonely and maybe not understanding my own worth.”
Shock for Hill’s Fan
The comedian and actor has lost and gained weight many times during his career. One of his most significant body transformations came four years after Superbad.
At the red carpet of the ESPY’s awards, 2011 someone stunned everyone, even the paparazzi. All the lenses turned suddenly to a man who was barely recognizable. There was a slimline physique man looking quite handsome in a black suit with a purple tie, who was actually Jonah Hill.
Hill Became a Sensation
Hill’s dramatic weight loss made him the talk of the town, and he was flaunting his new figure with full grace keeping aside the professional attitude. And, why not, as he had lost 40 lbs, a really promising figure.
However, he then transformed himself with the guidance of a nutritionist and the result was revealed on the evening of ESPY awards.
His New Lean Physique
Since debuting his incredible body transformation back in March, it’s safe to say Jonah Hill is determined to stay fit and keep the weight off.
Hill: “A friend of mine was like, ‘If you do 100 push-ups a day, you’ll be in good shape … I worked my way up, and now I do that every day,” he said in an interview.
The Return of the Old Hill
Most of you might have guessed it right after reading the title and yes, of course, you guys are absolutely right.
In 2012 Hill started getting fatter again, but the only thing sighing relief to his fan was the pace. Jonah hill was putting on weight with a subtle approach.
Fashion Statement
Though his weight kept changing but the only thing that remained constant was his charm and cuteness.
People liked his fashion statement and dressing style. He was seen strolling the streets of SoHo, with earphones and a brown hat, on September 29, 2012, was giving him a superb look.
The Wolf of Wall Street
Then there was the Wolf of Wall Street (2013), and the old Jonah Hill was back, what he used to look like in the movie SuperBad. It was nothing like that; his character role in The Wolf of Wall Street was demanding.
However, this time he used his own creative license and started getting bulky again. On the screen, we got to see the same fatty Jonah Hill.
The big Hill of War Dogs
Hill’s memorable weight loss came at the premiere of’ Moneyball in 2011, a role which earned him a Best Supporting Actor Oscar nod. He told DeGeneres that he began leading a healthier lifestyle to become a “responsible adult.” However, in 2016, Hill gained the weight back for his role as Efraim Diveroli in War Dogs.
He put on a lot, 40 lbs to be exact for the movie. Perhaps, it was those 40 lbs that he lost in the year 2011.
Hill began Eating Sushi
The comedian and actor has lost and gained weight many times during his career. One of his biggest body transformations came four years after Superbad was released, at the premiere of 2011’s Moneyball, which earned him an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor.
He said at the time: “It was mostly diet. I wish there was some crazy thing that I did, like a pill or a genie or something: While working with a nutritionist, Hill revealed a food that seemed to work for him: “I found that Japanese food was very helpful to me.”
Get his Fitness Back
War Dogs made Hill gain weight and look bulkiest ever. But the good thing was that it was in the mind of Hill and he was concerned to get his fitness back.
He also told the radio show he began doing 10 push-ups a day and eventually worked his way up to doing 100 push-ups a day.
His BFF
After the film was released that summer, Hill immediately turned to 21 Jump Street co-star, Channing Tatum to get some weight loss advice. Channing Tatum considers himself “lucky” to have a bromance with Jonah Hill.
“I called Channing Tatum and said, ‘Hey, if I ate less and go to a trainer, will I get in better shape?'” Hill said on The Tonight Show in August 2016. ” And he said, ‘Yes, you dumb motherf–er, of course, you will. It’s the simplest thing in the entire world.”
Breaking the Internet
He was so keen to get back in shape, and this time he was on the field with full dedication. He did everything, hired a nutritionist and kept a food journal, followed strict diets, to trim the fat of his body.
The change was visible in May 2017, and the slimmer Hill was breaking the internet with his killer looks. In July, the L.A native lets his fan see his fit biceps while he was grabbing lunch on the set of the Mid ’90s in New York City, his directorial debut.
Weight loss Transformation
The most significant change was seen in September 2017, when a photograph of Hill came out showing him pulling up his pants. He was not at all recognizable in the first look, unless one would tell that he is Jonah Hill.
A month before also he looked different and slim while shooting in his ‘80s era costume for Maniac in New York City. But in September, there was a drastic change complemented by his braided hair.
Hair Transformation
Jonah Hill saga is yet not over and it is still developing. Now halfway through his third decade of life, Hill said on Kimmel, “I spent my whole 20’s trying to be what people wanted me to be…and the past few years have been amazing in that I’m just going to be myself.”
So as per the recent picture that Hill posted on his Instagram, he has managed to maintain his look by keeping off most of the weight.
Style Icon
Most of you won’t believe but yes, Hill has been the fashion world’s most unexpected style icon.
Hill’s fashion style largely stems from his love of skate culture and in fact, his directorial debut Mid90s is set in the 1990s LA skate scene.
Best Dressed List of 2018
However, still, his current status reminds of the 2011-2012 Jonah and we wish this time history to not repeat itself.
There’s a fear of Hill heading to another relapse, as long as he doesn’t sign up for the sequel of War Dogs. Else, he won’t stay the same as of now. Well, the exact weight of Hill is still unknown, but that we leave on you.
Joining Instagram
His first post shows him filming his feature-length directorial debut, Mid 90’s, but there was something else that caught the eye of his followers.
Hill has 1.6 million Instagram followers.
He’s Almost Unrecognizable
Jonah has been a busy man lately. Not only does Maniac premiere on Netflix in September, but the Hill-written-and-directed film Mid90s is also scheduled to appear in theatres this October.

The two were first spotted together in August 2018 while taking a walk together in New York City and have kept their relationship low-key.
Also New House
Hill also appears to be making moves toward settling down with Santos. The Wolf of Wall Street actor recently bought a $6.77 million home in Santa Monica, California, according to Variety
. In addition to his stylish new Santa Monica digs, Hill continues to maintain a swanky loft in Manhattan’s NoHo nabe that was purchased in 2015 for about $9.2 million
‘Un-filtered’ Bullying Docu-Series
Lately, facebook’s Instagram, as part of its anti-bullying initiatives, funded a new series directed by Jonah Hill featuring teens and young adults talking about their experiences with bullying.
Hill has spoken out about bullying and toxic masculinity and identifies as both having been bullied as well as having been the bully.
Inspiration
“It was an incredible experience to direct this project,” Hill said. “I tried to create an environment for young people to be heard and listened to. I wish there was a platform to hear other’s struggles and experiences when I was growing up. I hope that this will be inspiring for young people to share their stories and feelings and not feel so alone.”
There were no scripts for the series, which was shot in a vertical orientation for mobile viewing. In the interview studio, producers built a set with an LED video wall that had a bank of colors to represent different emotions. During the conversations, the color on the wall would change to reflect the subject matter being discussed.
Coming Into His Own
Hill says it was only recently that he was able to accept himself. When he appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, he read a piece he wrote for Inner Children, a free magazine focused on self-love, released in conjunction with the premiere of Mid90s that featured interviews with Eddie Falco, Michael Cera, and Behati Prinsloo.
“It took a long time, honestly until right now, for me to come out as sort of the person, the artist, mind, what I represent, how I feel, how I’d like to be spoken to, how I speak to the world in a way that actually represents who I am as a person as opposed to me trying to be something else that I’m not.”
As an actor who came to prominence in his early 20s, and who said he was long looked at as the “bro comedy guy,” the 35-year old described how maturity has given him a fresh perspective on some of his early roles.
“I love those films, but I also think that if you look back at those films, a lot of what they’re showing is major bro comedy, and bro masculinity,” he said.
