‘Clueless’ Actress Stacey Dash Arrested for Domestic Battery in Florida

LOS ANGELES (Variety.com) – Stacey Dash, the “Clueless” actor and former Fox News personality, was arrested for domestic battery on Sunday in Pasco County, Fla.

According to a police report, Dash became involved in a verbal argument at roughly 7:45 p.m. She allegedly pushed the victim, resulting in a red scratch marks on the victim’s arm, and then slapped the victim.

The authorities did not identify the other party under a state law protecting victim confidentiality, but Dash’s representative identified the person as her husband, and said the two were involved in a marital dispute.

“The marital dispute, while personal and unfortunate, has since been blown out of proportion,” Dash’s manager said in a statement.

Dash was taken into custody on suspicion of domestic battery and transported to the Land O’ Lakes detention facility on Sunday night. According to Dash’s manager, her husband appeared in court on her behalf on Monday, and she was released from jail.

A 911 call was released on Monday, in which Dash can be heard calling to summon help. She told the dispatcher that she got into an altercation with her husband’s daughter, and that her husband had then put her into a chokehold. The husband denied that, and can be heard saying that all he did was pull her off his daughter.

“I’m not scratching and hitting and all this stuff,” he said. “I’m the one with the scratches.”

The Pasco County Sheriff’s Office released body cam video of the arrest. In the video, a police officer asks about Dash’s occupation and she tells him that she is “taking a break” from acting and has been on .

Dash is best known for her role as Dionne Davenport in the 1995 romantic high school comedy “.” She later became a conservative personality on Fox News from 2014-16. During her run, she controversially advocated for the abolition of Black History month and was suspended after using profanity on-air while discussing former President Barack Obama’s stance on Islamic terrorism. In 2016, she published her memoir “There Goes My Social Life: From Clueless to Conservative.” Following her stint on Fox, Dash announced her bid for California’s 44th congressional district in 2018. She withdrew her candidacy shortly after.

Dash has a number of upcoming projects including “The Dawn,” “7th Secret,” “Roe v. Wade” and “Dawgtown.”
